Overview

FloridaCommerce administers three military community programs, the Defense Infrastructure Grant (DIG), the Defense Reinvestment Grant (DRG) and the Florida Defense Support Commission (FDSC) Grant.

Note: The Defense Infrastructure Grant (DIG) was not funded for FY 25-26.

Defense Reinvestment Grant Program (DRG)


The Defense Reinvestment Grant Program (DRG) provides support for community-based activities that protect existing military installations, diversify the economy of a defense-dependent community, or develop plans that facilitate the reuse of closed or realigned military installations, such developing and implementing strategies that will help communities support the mission of military installations.


Florida Defense Support Commission (FDSC) Grant


The Florida Defense Support Commission (FDSC) Grant Program preserves and protects military installations; assists Florida is for Veterans, Inc. with economic and workforce development efforts in military communities; conducts planning and research and development to support military missions, businesses, and military families; and improves the state’s military-friendly environment for service-members, military dependents, military retirees, and businesses that bring military and base-related jobs to the state.


Eligibility


Eligible applicants include defense-dependent local governments and local economic development councils representing a local government with a military installation that could be adversely affected by federal actions.
